C'mon, space race
Well, China's on its way again. I'm not sure why they're up to this; is it pride and nationalism, as has been suggested? My experience with Chinese embassy officials leads me to believe this is possible, but it seems an awfully large price tag for just this, as manned space flight is hardly the only thing out there to do. Something else may be afoot.

Yes, there are other things to do, but space does have a mystique about it. Anyways, they already have the Great Wall and really good Olympic athletes. But what the heck do you think they're going to do up there anyways? This isn't the movies. I doubt anything is up except for China wanting to prove something. Oh, wait, maybe they're going to solve their population problems by building a colony on the moon. ;) Maybe you're right.
