Fun international politics

So, Hugo Chavez is a genius. The Bush administration is under a lot of fire right now, and there are major concerns about its ties to the energy industry which will be unable to deliver affordable heating oil or natural gas this winter. Chavez's response? Provide cheap Venezuelan heating oil to poor people - in Massachusetts. Part humanitarian aid, part geopolitical middle finger, it is a brilliant move for Chavez in his rhetorical crusade against US capitalism.

Hugo Chavez is, indeed, brilliant. But he's also honest, for he is providing for the poor in Latin America as well. I like your comments as well.

Seems to me this is the best 'revolution' to come down the pike in a long while.

Thanks for the comment, Earl. I'm a bit loath to call any politician honest, since the pressures of governing seem to push people in precisely the opposite direction. However, I am very intrigued by Señior Chavez's approach to international relations, as it is refreshing to see a challenge to neoliberal economics.
