Anybody know a good data recovery service?
I didn't post this weekend because my powerbook's hard drive, only 16 months old, decided to eat itself friday night. It remains unmountable. No crazy noises, thankfully, just loads of crapfulness.
I'm OK for now, just wishing I'd had time last week to do a good backup. Damn you, midterms!

Believe me when I say I KNOW how you feel. And be glad that you back up more often and more thoroughly than I.
Yeah, I feel your pain more deeply now. I wish I'd done a backup more recently, and not deleted old bakups during my hard drive migration. Recent lack of excess drive space has left me possibly without a good number of my pictures from June 2004 onward. Luckily, most are on Flickr, but still this is disappointing (and it will require a lot of work to get them off).
I guess this is a lesson to never be without enough space to do a full backup.
